A reserve forest of hills, streams and ruins. The trek to Buxa Fort (about 4 km from Santarabari) rewards you with views over Bhutan hills; Jayanti village at the base is the classic lunch stop.
A rocky, shallow river under the Bhutan hills — the ‘queen of Dooars’. Walk the forest trail to Mahakal shrine and its stalactite cave, and stay for sunset when the whole river turns gold.
Drive to the India–Bhutan border at Jaigaon, cross the gate into Phuentsholing for lunch and a stroll. Carry original ID for every traveller and check current entry rules the night before.
Our everyday river, a short walk or cycle from the gate. Shaded banks for a picnic breakfast, a shallow stretch for wading in winter, and the best sunset spot within 20 km.
The crumbling ruins of a ‘Nal king’s’ fort hidden inside Chilapata forest — your jeep safari route passes it. Guides tell the legends better than any brochure; bring the camera, not the drone.
Kumargram, Kalchini and the estates around Hasimara are a sea of manicured green. Walk the estate roads in the soft light before 9 am, watch pluckers at work, and buy first-flush straight from the source.
A brick-built palace modelled on Buckingham, set in the old royal town of Cooch Behar. Pair it with Madan Mohan temple and Rasikbill lake for one easy heritage day-trip.
Distances and drive times are approximate, measured from the hut in normal traffic. Forest-entry rules and Bhutan border regulations change — we re-check them weekly and confirm on WhatsApp before your trip.
